Rate:$16.67 $17.56 Job DescriptionThe Material Handler plays a
critical role in our manufacturing process by ensuring the timely
and accurate handling of materials and components required for
production, as well as loading outbound shipments. This position is
responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials
within the facility, as well as maintaining inventory accuracy and
supporting production and shipping operations. This role ensures
the smooth and uninterrupted flow of materials and components to
the production lines.Key Responsibilities: Material Handling:
- Receive incoming shipments of raw materials, components, and
supplies.
- Unload trucks, inspect deliveries for damage, and verify
contents against purchase orders.
- Move materials to designated storage areas using forklifts,
pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Retrieve and stage materials for production as needed. Cleaning
and Organization:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including
production floors, storage areas, and assembly stations.
- Clean up spills, remove debris, and dispose of waste materials
properly. Assistance to Operators:
- Provide support to machine operators and assemblers by fetching
parts, tools, or equipment as requested. Assist in setting up
workstations and preparing materials for production. Inventory
Management:
- Perform cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure
accurate inventory levels.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or discrepancies
to the Warehouse Supervisor. Production Support:
- Prepare kits of materials and components required for specific
production jobs according to the production schedule.
- Deliver materials, supplies, tools, and resources to production
lines in a timely manner to avoid or minimize downtime.
- Visit different production areas to monitor resource levels and
replenish as needed.
- Remove materials, supplies, and tools from the production lines
when they're not needed. Transport finished products between
production lines and storage or shipping areas when ready.
- Assist production teams with loading and unloading materials as
required.
- Work closely with the production planning team to prioritize
and fulfill material requests. Shipping & Loading:
- Load materials, equipment or supplies onto trucks or other
carriers for outbound shipments.
- Ensure that shipments are properly secured and labeled for safe
transport. Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including
proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Operate material handling equipment safely and report any
maintenance or safety issues immediately.
- Comply with all regulatory requirements and standards related
to material handling, loading, and storage.
- Identify potential safety hazards and report them to the
appropriate personnel. Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to optimize
workflow and resolve production-related issues.
- Communicate effectively to ensure smooth coordination between
different departments. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and
efficiencies within the material handling and loading
operations.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay
updated on company policies, procedures, and best practices.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications: Education and specialized
knowledge, skill, or experience (e.g., technical, scientific,
administrative, managerial), which this position requires.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a
team.
- Basic math skills and ability to follow instructions
accurately.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift/move
heavy objects.
- Forklift certification (preferred but not required must be
trained and certified upon assumption of role).
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage and track multiple
resources across different zones of manufacturing.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure accurate and timely replenishment
of materials.
- Coordination: Collaborate with various teams and
departments.
- Efficiency: Optimize processes to minimize downtime. Preferred
Qualifications: Other requirements important for the job, but not
essential.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is advantageous.
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills is a plus. Benefits
