Job Description:
Position Summary This position may be eligible for a hybrid work
arrangement that may include a partially remote work location,
consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are
generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance
of their assigned duty station. UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School
is seeking a Director of Development. This person will be
responsible for cultivating and soliciting gifts of $100,000 and
documenting estate plans and soliciting annual fund gifts. To do so
successfully, the Director will build relationships with
Kenan-Flagler’s key donors and prospects and will have significant
interaction with alumni volunteers. The Director of Development
reports to the Executive Director of Development. Extensive travel
is required, and the position will represent UNC Kenan-Flagler
throughout the state and across the country. The position will
participate as members of the UNC Kenan-Flagler Development Staff
in the overall execution of a comprehensive development program and
fundraising campaign. Required Qualifications, Competencies, And
Experience The successful candidate will have a minimum 1 year
direct ask fundraising experience and a strong understanding of the
nature and purpose of higher education. Knowledge of the basic
principles and techniques of successful fundraising as they pertain
to the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
of individual donors are required. The successful candidate will
also possess exceptional interpersonal skills, strong written and
oral communication abilities, a demonstrated capacity to conduct
multiple responsibilities, and acute organizational skills. Travel
and some weekend work are required. Team players possessing a sense
of entrepreneurship are encouraged to apply. Preferred
Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience Preferred candidates
will also have three to five years of major gift fundraising or
equivalent experience. Experience working at UNC or in higher
education is preferred, as is experience in closing gifts over
$100,000.
