The Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives reports to
the Vice Chancellor for Development and is a member of the
University Development senior leadership team. The Associate Vice
Chancellor is responsible for developing, managing and fundraising
for signature initiative efforts for the University, working with
the University's senior leadership, deans, lead development
officers, major gift development officers and volunteers. The
Associate Vice Chancellor will manage a strategic initiatives
program, with a team of fundraisers who are responsible for
identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and
stewardship of prospects with a focus on prospects with the ability
to make gifts of $1M and greater. The Associate Vice Chancellor
will serve as a liaison to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for
Research to identify fundraising priorities at the leadership
level. In preparation for the next campaign, this position will
focus on signature initiatives such as, but not limited to data
science, conversion science, deferred maintenance and capital
projects, scholarships, and innovation.The Associate Vice
Chancellor will coordinate activity across schools and units,
building a strong culture of collaboration to achieve fundraising
objectives.Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: The Associate
Vice Chancellor for Development, Strategic Initiatives will be a
polished fundraising executive who knows and understands the nature
and purpose of public higher education, and the role private
philanthropy plays in advancing the University. Demonstrated
ability to handle multiple, complex fundraising activities
simultaneously and coordinate solicitation strategies in a
decentralized environment. Ability to plan and implement a
fundraising plan. Experience building, growing, and managing a
high-functioning team of fundraisers. Excellent oral and written
communication skills. High level of creativity, initiative, and
motivation. Team-orientated, collaborative, and willing to set an
example for real leadership. Significant experience working with
volunteers and volunteer groups. Ability and willingness to
travel.Education Requirements: Minimum of a bachelor's degree
required (or foreign degree equivalent) with related experience.
For positions with responsibility for direct solicitation of gifts
and funds, a minimum of 1 year of professional-level, direct
solicitation/fundraising experience is required.Qualifications and
Experience: Leading candidates will have: A minimum of ten or more
years of experience with demonstrated successful experience and
effectiveness in major and principal gift fundraising, preferably
