The University Libraries hold approximately 9.2 million volumes and extensive collections of manuscripts, audiovisual, microforms, graphics, government documents and rare books. The Libraries is a member of the Association of Research Libraries, the Council on Library and Information Resources, and the Center for Research Libraries. House Undergraduate Library (UL) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a student-focused and collaborative candidate to fill the new role of Student Success and Engagement Librarian. The Undergraduate Library, part of the University Libraries, is a vibrant, user-centered department committed to supporting the learning, research, and creative needs of the campus community. With a focus on the whole student and core services such as reserves, digital and information literacies, and media collections, Undergraduate Library staff strive to create a welcoming environment where students can shine.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Requires the Masters in Library Science (MLS) degree (or foreign degree equivalent). In specialized libraries, may substitute an advanced degree in the field of specialization (e.g., legal degree for a law library, or a history degree for a special historical collection within the library setting).Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities- ALA-accredited masters degree in library or information science. Candidates who are currently enrolled in a Masters program and are within one semester of graduating will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.- Experience teaching or providing library instruction- Experience providing user-centered research services - Demonstrated project management and organizational skills- Demonstrated commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse campus community- Experience using instructional technology to support student learning- Strong written and oral communication skills - Self-motivated, with strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration - This position is primarily based on-sitePreferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities- Coursework in Education or Education-related field - Experience working with high school or undergraduate studentsSpecial Physical/Mental Requirements:This position is primarily based on-siteCampus Security Authority Responsibilities:Not Applicable.
