The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Department of
Psychiatry invites applications for a fixed-term clinical
instructor position. Children and adolescents have been uniquely
impacted by the pandemic and are experiencing increased behavioral
health needs concurrent with their medical inpatient needs. The
Department of Psychiatry is seeking a clinician who is skilled in
child and adolescent shorter-term models of therapy, care
management and in dealing with highly stressed children who have
been admitted to the inpatient pediatric service. The successful
candidate will join a multidisciplinary child psychiatry consult
team to improve the wellbeing of children and families admitted to
various inpatient pediatric units. The successful candidate will
join the inpatient pediatric psychiatric consult liaison team
consisting of faculty from Psychology, Psychiatry, & trainees.
There may also be outpatient clinical responsibilities in the UNC
Department of Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic for bridging discharged
patients to local services and community supports. The physical
location of the position will be the campus in Chapel Hill.
Clinical responsibilities will primarily include providing
assessment, consultation, brief intervention to children and care
management within a team model. The successful candidate will have
strong multidisciplinary consultative skills, exceptional rapport
building capabilities, well developed problem solving skills, and
knowledge of the promotion of coping in children and their
families. Areas of specific clinical skill of interest include
experiences in trauma therapies and family models of therapy.
Applicants who have or are interested in working with trainees will
be strongly considered. The division of the position will be a
majority in the inpatient setting with sometime in the departmental
outpatient psychotherapy clinic.
Applicants must hold a masters degree in social work from an
accredited School of Social Work.
Qualifications and Experience
An LCSW with a minimum of two years of clinical practice
Experience in assessment, therapy and care management
Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary environment
Interest in working with children and adolescents in crisis
North Carolina License complete at time of hire
