Proposed Start Date Estimated Duration of Appointment 6 months not to exceed 11 months Posting Open Date 08/24/2018 Posting Close Date 09/06/2019 Description of Work The Center for Lifelong Learning provides opportunities and resources for nurses with different educational and experiential backgrounds to maintain and expand their knowledge, skills and competencies to meet their current and future needs in nursing practice, education, and research. This position will plan continuing nursing education and assist in administrative support by providing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of CLL learning activities. This position requires excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail. And, also requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with many types of individuals from different cultures. This position works directly with the Director/Lead Nurse Planner (LNP), Nurse Planner/Program Coordinator, and collaborates with the Business Officer for all activities. This will include: collaborating with other School of Nursing (SON) faculty members, staff members, and community partners to accomplish the goals and objectives of CLL. Nurse planners are oriented to the role, advised, supervised, and kept current of ANCC policies as necessary. Assistant Program Coordinator duties include: providing on-site program support, assisting with the participant registration process, coordinating venue sites for events, preparing handout material, assisting with pre-registration through Cvent, and collaborating with CLL team as needed. Nurse Planner duties include: planning of assigned CLL offerings and activities with planning committee members; conducting needs assessments and interpreting findings to identify relevant lifelong learning needs of nurses who work in various settings; assisting with the development of the CLL operational and marketing materials (e.g. course proposals, announcements, workshop materials); assisting with the development and implementation of a marketing plan for CLL programs; identifying and helping to maintain a database of speakers for CLL programs; working with other CLL staff members with program planning, implementation, evaluation, and close-out of programs; keeping current and adhering to ANCC guidelines for accreditation as a Provider of Continuing Nursing Education; assisting with the documentation of benchmarking data and markers related to provider unit goals, for SON and University reports, and ANCC reports; assisting with evaluation activities of all CNE offerings and assisting with the interpretation of findings on a regular basis to improve the quality of CNE programs; promoting a high quality customer service for CNE participants and the faculty who present at CNE programs. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in nursing from an appropriate accredited institution. At least 1 year experience in providing adult education, staff development, or faculty development. A current, active unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse by the North Carolina Board of Nursing is required for this position OR possession of a multi-state RN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (e-NLC). Preferred education and experience: Graduate degree in nursing, education and/or administration. Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or Nursing Professional Development Certification At least 2 year experience in providing adult education, staff development, or faculty development. At least 2 year of clinical experience in the area of specialization.
