qualifications will not be considered. Registered Nurse Progressive
Care Unit (Stepdown) Location: Kernersville, NC Job Type: Contract
This role is tailored for a skilled RN with Progressive Care Unit
(PCU) experience, especially in intermediate care settings with
neurological and cardiac patients. The unit specializes in managing
patients with stroke, heart failure, transient ischemic attack
(TIA), sepsis, syncope, acute kidney injury (AKI), chest pain, and
other complex conditions requiring continuous monitoring and
intervention. Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive care to an
intermediate patient population with an average daily census of 35
on a 36-bed unit. Monitor, assess, and manage patients with
neurological and cardiac conditions using NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
Detect and escalate neurological changes promptly. Manage and
titrate hemodynamic drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo,
Nitro, and Amio. Utilize telemetry monitors to interpret cardiac
rhythms with backup support from cardiac surveillance. Execute care
related to high-flow oxygen therapy and TR bands post cardiac
catheterization. Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory
therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists for round-the-clock
patient support. Document patient data accurately using EMR systems
(Encompass/EPIC). Qualifications / Desired Experience: Minimum 1
year of acute care nursing experience, preferably in PCU/Stepdown
settings. Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life
Support (ACLS). NIHSS certification required to assess and manage
stroke patients. Proficient in telemetry monitoring and
interpreting cardiac rhythms. Ability to manage multiple infusions
and hemodynamic monitoring. Strong critical thinking skills and
teamwork orientation. Work Environment & Perks: Royal blue scrubs
