pumps Description: Registered Nurse for Medical-Surgical/Telemetry.
The facility is a large hospital with a Level 1 Trauma Designation.
It serves as a teaching hospital and is an academic medical center.
The unit consists of 29 beds. Patient types include general
medicine, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory problems,
renal conditions, and wound care. Common procedures involve lab
draws and caring for chest tubes and trachs. Expected patient
ratios are 1 RN to 5-6 patients and 1 CNA to 9-10 patients. Support
staff includes CNAs, charge nurses, and receptionists. Phlebotomy
support is shared with registered nurses. The resource team
includes a rapid response team, respiratory therapists, and
hospitalists available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is centralized.
Technology used includes an electronic medical record system and
specific IV pumps and medication dispensing systems. Travelers may
float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed. Weekend rotation
is every other weekend, and holiday expectations require working
75% of holidays. Travelers are expected to adhere to a rotating
schedule, which is planned six weeks in advance. The unit values
