Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36.00 Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing experience License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers. Evaluates factors affecting the ability to learn and the developmental level of the patient. Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revision of the plan of care. Participates in discussions with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluating patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Demonstrates competence in the care of patients with complex problems, considering physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care. Performs bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan. Utilizes nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding patients with complex care issues. Develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations with assistance. Achieves goals and objectives within the identified timeframe or renegotiates with the supervisor. Maintains knowledge of activities that facilitate collaboration within and between departments. Participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. Effectively uses communication systems. Participates in promoting cost-effective care and gives feedback to colleagues. Promotes a safe, clean, and secure environment for all. Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Synthesizes assessment data into meaningful information prior to communication to others. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs. Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care. Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
