The Surgical Technician Apprentice OR is an allied health professional who is an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patient populations ranging from infancy to geriatrics. Functions under the supervision of a surgeon or registered nurse to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Utilizes expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique, that combined with the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies, will help to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Licensure: Certified Surgical Technologist Required - Within 12 Months of Completion of Surgical Technology Program Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent And College Courses Enrolled in an accredited surgical technologist program at Durham Tech Community College Required
