Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Clinical-Nursing
Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights
3x12 Hr Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: One year of nursing
experience required License: Licensed to practice as a Registered
Nurse in the state of North Carolina Certifications: Basic Life
Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification Must-Have:
Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing
Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent
with professional standards. Responsible for coordinating and
delivering patient care using the nursing process in a hospital
setting. Participates in identifying and meeting personal learning
needs. Attends educational programs based on identified learning
needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to patient
population with assistance. Assesses readiness to learn of the
patient, family, and caregivers. Assesses developmental level of
patients and factors affecting ability to learn. Identifies
expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance in revision of the plan
of care as needed. Participates in discussions with
interdisciplinary team members in the evaluation of patient care.
Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex
problems. Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required for
patient care plans. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing
standards, policies, and procedures in the provision of care.
Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family
needs. Consults appropriate resources for patients with complex
care issues. Develops goals to promote professional growth or
minimize limitations. Achieves goals and objectives within an
identified time frame or renegotiates with a supervisor. Knows
activities that facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
Participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and
performance improvement activities. Uses communication systems
effectively. Promotes cost-effective care. Provides feedback to
coworkers. Awareness of public policy and regulatory guidelines
affecting the healthcare environment. Promotes a safe, clean, and
secure hospital environment for all. Recognizes data from complex
situations to determine care priorities. Assesses and anticipates
discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops
relationships with families to promote their ability to advocate
for the patient and their needs. Collaborates with patient and
family to prepare or update the plan of care. Utilizes available
multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Identifies and
addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex
problems. Reads journals containing studies or articles applicable
to practice. Brings ideas and questions to staff at large for
assessment of applicability.
