Perform a variety of nonprofessional nuitalWorking knowledge of
infection control procedures and safety prec autnts, set up and
feed patients as necessary,provide patients with fres
hdrrsingduties in the direct careofpatients under the direct
supervisio n of anRN/LPN.Work PerformedPrepare patients, equip ment
and supplies for specific procedures andprovide manual assistance a
s required.Obtain and record patient data for medical records
noting and informingRN/LPN of information collected.Administer
treatment and person alcareprocedures to patients including,but not
limited to, feeding, bath ing,shaving, changing clothing,cleaning
and trimming fingernails, bed-ma king,assisting withambulation,
enemas, skin care, and bowel and bladder elimination;provide such
additional care as required to meet the persona lneeds andcomfort
of assigned patients.Participate in teaching activitie
sbyreinforcing teaching instructed byRN and/or physician as
needed.Assis tphysician and nurses with physical examinations by
helpingposition pati ents, changing non-sterile dressing and
weighing patients.Take and recor dvital signs, record I&O,
apply ice bags, administerdouches and enemas.N oteand report any
changes in patient's condition.Turn and position patie
inkingwater.Perform fingersticks for blood glucose testing, with
appropr iatetraining.Assist with admission, discharge, and
transportation ofpati ents.Follow standard precautions and use
personal protective equipmenta srequired.Collect, deliver and
conduct routine tests on patient specimen s.Clean assigned area;
stock and replenish supplies and equipment asrequ ired.Participate
in own professional development by maintaining required skills
validation and attending educational offerings. Support thedevelo
pment of other staff and formal learners.May also perform sterile
dressi ng change for wounds over 48 hours old,IV fluid assistance
activities, o ral/nasogastric feeding and
urinarycatherizations/irrigation.Perform oth er related duties

CharacteristicsN/A Minimum Qualifications Education Completion of a
Level I - Nurse Aide education program approved by the North
Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC -
approved Nurse Aide I competency test. High School diploma or
equivalent required. Experience N/A Degrees, Licensures,
Certifications Currentlylisted as a Nursing Assistant I (NAI) with
the Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of
abuse, fraud, neglect or misappropriation of property. BCLS
certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire
orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of
