center, and more. The Patient Flow team at Duke University Hospital
is looking to grow! An exceptional group of Clinical Professionals
dedicated to the facilitation and coordination of patient movement
within a world class healthcare system, surrounding regional
healthcare systems, and beyond! Department Profile: The Patient
Flow team works with referring agencies, hospitals, clinics, and
emergency departments throughout the state and beyond to coordinate
safe and efficient integration into the Duke University Health
System. This team also facilitates patient movement throughout the
facility by coordinating transfers between the Inpatient Units,
PACU, Emergency Department, and Ambulatory Clinics. This team works
alongside providers to identify patient needs, triage needs based
on acuity, and ensure that patients are relocated in accordance
with their needs. Work Hours & Shifts: Day Shift - 7a-7p 3 - 12
hour shifts This role also offers the potential for some hybrid
work after 1 year of experience with the Patient Flow & Transfer
Center Team. Job Summary: With thousands of requests handled per
year, the Duke Health Transfer Center is the patient and provider
link to world-renown patient and family centered care. With
strengths of teamwork, inter-disciplinary communication and
collaboration, the Transfer Center offers a dynamic environment for
ongoing development of the experienced Registered Nurse. Our
dedicated team provides 24/7 coverage to support the transfer needs
of patients while networking with our internal and external
customers. The ideal Patient Flow & Transfer Center team member
would have experience in the critical or emergency care setting and
an understanding of how to navigate complex medical systems with a
focus on patient centered care. This role requires a BSN degree
from an accredited nursing program, continuous BLS certification,
and at least three (3) years of direct experience working in an
inpatient medical/surgical facility. The optimal candidate has
direct experience working in an Emergency Department, Critical Care
Environment, or Transfer Center at a Level 1 Trauma Center as it
requires advanced clinical decision-making skills to ensure that
patients receive the best care possible. Knowledge, Skills,
Education, and Experience Required: Three years of Critical Care or
Step Down or ED nursing experience required at a Level 1 Trauma
Center Knowledge of Duke Health System hospitals and patient care
units preferred Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in
Nursing or higher is required Licensure, Certification or
Registration Required: Current registration with North Carolina
State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR
current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North
Carolina required. BLS (or higher) certification required Duke is
