Down Unit, Durham NC 27710 Must be able to work at least 1 shift
per week, 2 shifts per week also available Must have 2 years of RN
experience Cardiology Step Down at Duke University Hospital
provides care for cardiology medicine patients with a range of
diagnoses. The patient population includes but is not limited to
the care of acute coronary syndrome, post cardiac catheterization,
electrophysiology procedures, dysrhythmias, heart failure, heart
transplant workups and congenital heart disease. These patients
require high acuity care and many come directly from the ICU, post
procedures or outside hospitals requiring an increased level of
care. Many times, these patients encompass a multi-system
involvement which can include but is not limed to pulmonary, renal,
endocrine and neurology. The environment is fast paced, challenging

skills with many opportunities for professional growth. Work
Performed Plan, provide, supervise and document professional
nursing careutilizing the nursing process for p atients in
accordance with physicianorders and established policies and
procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the
plan o f care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs
and response t o care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities
of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.Assist other
nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care and actas team
leader or charge nurse for a group of pa tients or an entire unitas
assigned.Monitor and initiate corrective acti on to maintain the
environment ofcare including equipment and material r
esources.Participate in own professional development by maintaining
requ iredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking
appropriateassi stance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor
and support the develop ment of other staff and
formallearners.Participate in the identification of clinical or
operational performanceimprovement opportunities and in performance

Capacity Testing Required Minimum Qualifications Education Work
requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in
Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll
in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date
and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
Experience 2 years of appropriate clinical experience required
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Must have current or compact RN
licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. Duke is an
