The Assistant Director of Health Promotion works as a member of the Student Health Services team in managing, developing and promoting an integrated health and wellness culture for the university student. *This position will work collaboratively with offices within Student Affairs and across campus to plan, research, implement and evaluate health education strategies, interventions and programs. These programs will be provided to individuals, small groups and communities within the UNCP community. *Keep abreast of health education principles and public health issues that directly affect the college-aged population; serving as a resource for the Student Health Center staff. *Design, implement and evaluate educational programs in the areas of sexual health, nutrition, body image, eating disorders, stress management, sleep management, cancer prevention, sun safety, cold/flu, etc. for the student population. *Supervise 10-15 Health Promotion Peer Educators, 1-2 interns each year and any future educational staff; including recruitment, training, supervision, and retention. *Manage and motivate college students in adopting leadership roles. *Provide consultation to students, staff, faculty on student health and wellness. *Present Health Promotion programs to requested classes, residence halls, Greek Life, student organizations, and others as requested. *Work closely with the Director of Student Health Services in planning and implementing larger scale programming (SCHA, Health and Wellness Fair, Pembroke Day Health Fair, etc). *Collaborate with on- and off-campus partners to enhance student programming and wellness. *Provide consultation and long-term training to peer educators to provide effective delivery of Health Promotion programs. *Create and disseminate marketing materials for Health Promotion and other Student Health Services areas, including coordinating the department social media presence. *Develop relationships and alliances with community agencies and organizations. *Develop monthly programs related to the National Health Observances. *Conduct Health and Wellness needs assessments and analyze the data to plan programming. *Coordinate marketing and develop creative methods of promoting initiative to encourage student's participation in programs and events. *Pursue grant opportunities as needed. *Collect data about students' behaviors, habits and perceptions on the most prevalent health topics. *Conduct Focus Groups related to health and wellness issues. Example of groups (nursing student, international students, athletes and etc.) *Collaborate with Counseling and Psychological Services every two years to distribute the National College Health Assessment II (ACHA-NCHA II) Survey. Survey will be emailed to all UNCP students. *Ability to use data collection and software for data analysis. *Develop strategic plans, goals and measurable objectives for health promotion. *Serve as a member of the Health and Wellness Committee and the Pembroke Day Committee. *Monthly Health and Wellness Newsletter. *Web Coordinator. Responsible for updating the SHS website as needed. *Maintain and promote a positive, professional, and respectful manner with a focus on customer service, cooperation, inclusiveness, confidentiality, and HIPAA. *Maintain active professional certification and CE requirement. *Other duties as assigned. Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or Public Health Education, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
