Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President for Leadership and Talent Development, the primary duties of this position involve managing and supporting executive-level searches for Chancellors, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and other specialized executive positions as assigned. The position incumbent will also manage relationships with external executive search providers and have involvement in creating and potentially implementing executive search shared services. Finally, the Assistant Vice President will be an active partner with the SAVP in assisting in the development and execution of a variety of leadership development and talent management programs that are designed to strengthen leadership capacity and retention System-wide. The Role Devises and drives executive search strategies for leadership recruitment. Oversees the full lifecycle executive recruitment process for Chancellor, Senior Vice President, and Vice President searches and other leadership positions as assigned. Develops and implements creative ideas for improving the executive search process and outcomes focused on continuous improvement, including development of potential shared services opportunities. Builds and implements a signature candidate experience for executive level candidates.-- Stays current with regard to organizational changes as well as industry trends that may impact executive hiring strategies and needs. Develops and sustains key partnerships and potential master contracts with a limited number of external search partners to support the University's executive search needs. Partners and assists the SAVP for Leadership and Talent in developing and implementing a variety of executive leadership development and talent management programs, including talent reviews and executive succession plans. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required or equivalent years of experience; master's preferred. Requires a minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience, managing full life-cycle executive recruitment process within a complex organization or an executive recruiting agency setting. Strong knowledge of candidate assessment and selection methods. Demonstrated proficiency with candidate tracking systems, recruiting software and candidate databases. Demonstrated ability to prioritize--and handle multiple high profile projects within tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, business acumen, and executive presence. Ability to engage in overnight travel throughout the State of North Carolina when supporting active executive searches. Requires basic proficiency in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Prior experience in or with higher education and/or public sector organizations, is desirable but not required. Familiarity with and willingness to support execution of various leadership development programs in addition to core responsibilities in executive search.
