Proposed Start Date 04/01/2021 Position Summary The grant entitled
Diverse and Resilient Educators Advised through Mentorship ( DREAM
) seeks one qualified candidate to serve as its Project Director.
The program is a collaborative between the UNC School of Education
and Durham Public Schools and is a $4.8 million grant funded by the
US Department of Education, Effective Educator Development Division
under a Teacher Quality Partnership ( TQP ) Program. The DREAM
grant seeks to recruit, educate, and train diverse teachers for
teaching service in Durham Public Schools, and provides a living
wage stipend to each DREAM resident. The Project Director will be
responsible for independently driving the development and daily
implementation of DREAM residency programming activities. The
Project Director will be responsible for program management and
leadership, grant management and compliance, maintaining partner
relations, and ensuring fidelity to a research and evaluation plan
for dissemination of results. Collaboration on project design and
implementation between this position with district and
university-based partners, as well as DREAM residents and School of
Education faculty, staff, and students will be key to the grant's
success, and a high level of independence, pro-activity, and
creative thinking are essential core competencies for the
successful candidate. Educational Requirements Relevant
post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating
comparable independent research productivity or comparable
background in independent academic or instructional activities,
will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of
relevant experience in substitution. This experience may be related
to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and
research resources of a higher education institution towards
community or regional issues.. Preference will be given to
applicants with master's degree, preferably in education,
leadership, or a related field. Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must:
a) demonstrate experience in independently leading complex
organizations and initiatives with a variety of stakeholders across
levels;
b) model excellent written and oral communication and
organizational skills;
c) possess budgetary expertise, preferably with federal grants;
d) demonstrate creative problem solving and adaptability to working
independently within in a dynamic and multifaceted environment with
multiple stakeholders; and,
e) have experience supervising multiple direct reports. Preferred
Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who: a)
demonstrate experience in P-12 learning environments, higher
education, or related educational environments;
b) previous experience working on a large-scale grant;
c) establishing data infrastructures that support quantitative
and/or qualitative research efforts on the implementation of the
