Position Summary ---- --The Director of Application and Data Analysis Services for School of Medicine IT will perform a critical leadership role in advancing the SOM's Application and Data Management program - providing strategic development and implementation, making key department-wide decisions, and being responsible for the effective management of financial and human resources within the Application and Data Analysis Services Department. Reporting to the CIO, the Director is responsible for high-level decision making that sets the overall direction and goals for the unit. The goal is to provide high quality, best practice systems and support to enhance its teaching and learning processes in the areas of application development, web development, and data analytics and reporting in support of the SOM's academic and research mission. The Director will develop and implement programs by collaborating with faculty and other IT professionals to enhance education and engagement through the innovation and the effective use of application and web technology and new media.This position requires outstanding communication skills as the Director will be expected to move the organization forward by persuading other decision-makers whilst collaborating with faculty, students, and information technology professionals, and by communicating clearly and persuasively with executive-level stake-holders both within and without the School of Medicine. The Director completes his/her strategic leadership though the evaluation of industry trends and organizational leadership. He/she must be able to assess feasibility of large-scale projects by accurately evaluating the costs, risks, and benefits. This position is ultimately responsible for the development, distribution, and timely execution of detailed project plans for the smooth deployment and transition to new technologies.Educational Requirements ---- --Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a closely related field. Master's degree or higher preferred.Qualifications and Experience ---- --RequiredSix years of progressive experience in the field of Information Technology which has included some supervisory or management. Extensive knowledge of the activities, processes, resources, and technologies involved in application development and implementation. Demonstrated experience leading and managing technical staff through subordinate managers. Demonstrated experience leading large, complex projects or programs. Demonstrated experience in managing and meeting budgets. High level of oral and written communication ability, including such skills as positive attitude, diplomacy, collaboration, persuasiveness, and analytical ability.PreferredExperience supporting Apple OS X 10, IOS, and Android platforms. Experience working in a higher-education or medical setting.
