# Position Information## Position SummaryThe Division of Infectious Diseases at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for a permanent, part-time Research Instructor (APP/NP) at .80FTE, or 32 hours per week. The APP/NP will be primarily responsible for conducting clinical research and assisting with patient care in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) at the Durham County Department of Public Health in Durham, NC, and Wake County Human Services in Raleigh, NC.Duties include, but are not limited to:* Recruiting, screening, and enrolling subjects in research studies using protocols approved by the UNC Institutional Review Board;* Assisting in the collection and management of study data while maintaining procedures to protect patient confidentiality and privacy;* Assessing and evaluating patients presenting to the health department clinics with signs and symptoms of STIs using established clinic protocols;* Providing treatment and management of patients with suspected or confirmed STIs and other general medical conditions using established clinic protocols, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, and/or direction from the supervising physician (s);* Coordinating and assisting with communication and other study related procedures between the study sponsor, UNC and the health departments.## Educational RequirementsBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees required. Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner certifications required.## Qualifications and ExperienceCandidate must have prior clinical research experience with multi-center NIH sponsored clinical trials, and have the ability to work well within a diverse team including, but is not limited to: principal investigators, other study personnel, clinic staff; communicate with study subjects and clinic staff; collect and manage clinical and research data, and coordinate study-related strategies with the rest of the teams.Candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, which are required for interacting with study subjects, data collectors and project staff and ability to coordinate exchange of communication.Must have the ability to follow established guidelines for assessing compliance with protocol and manuals of operational procedures.Must have previous experience in clinical research, clinical setting and public health.Must have the ability to work with people with STIs/HIV and diverse racial groups.Must have a valid driver?s license.## Equal Opportunity EmployerThe University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
