Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide specialized communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter for a middle school student in a dynamic educational setting. This role requires delivering one-on-one interpreting services to facilitate effective interaction and learning for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students. Key Responsibilities: Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation for a middle school student during academic activities and social interactions. Collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and other educational professionals to ensure the students communication needs are met. Maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor to support a positive and inclusive learning environment. Adapt interpreting approaches based on classroom context and students needs. Qualifications and Experience: Active Sign Language Interpreter certification or a minimum Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 (lower scores will be considered). Demonstrated experience interpreting within school settings, preferably middle school. Strong knowledge of ASL and Deaf culture. Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, educators, and families. Position Details: Location: Fuquay Varina, NC (onsite only). Setting: Middle School classroom. Schedule: 37.5 hours per week. Duration: Contract covering the current school year. Role: One position providing 1:1 interpreting support.
