As a part-time teacher, you will receive training to deliver Sylvan's proven, personal approach to learning. Sylvan Learning is looking for ENTHUSIASTIC, HAPPY, FLEXIBLE TEAM PLAYERS WHO LOVE WORKING WITH KIDS. We have a 3:1 ratio, personalized instruction, and we prepare your lessons. We are looking for teachers/tutors with expertise in reading, writing, math, high school math, study skills and/or SAT/ACT prep. Due to the extensive training and student connections created, we do not offer summer-only employment. We strongly encourage a commitment minimum of 1 year, however a commitment minimum of 6 months is required. Skills and Abilities Required: • Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones • Knowledge of tablet computers (iPads) • Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible • Strong problem solving and customer service skills • Strong team player Availability and Commitment Required: Ability to commit to at least 2 days per week (Minimum: 4 hours/week) We are open for tutoring Monday - Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings, in center. Exact days/times vary by location. Experience Required: • Four year degree in education or an applicable subject (ex: English, Math, etc) • State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired) • Minimum of one or two years of teaching/tutoring experience preferred • Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension required for reading teachers; Knowledge of math and problem solving strategies required for math teachers • Knowledge of common core concepts * Please note we do accept applications from college students working towards an education and/or subject specific degree. We love what we do and are looking for people who share the same attitude towards learning! Compensation: $15-$16/hour upon completion of training period Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance options available for employees who consistently work 30 or more hours per week. No phone calls please.
