Join the dedicated public works team of Greenville, SC, in a vital role that keeps our community safe and efficiently mobile. As a Traffic Control Worker, you will be entrusted with regulating, guiding, and ensuring the safety of vehicular and pedestrian traffic at construction sites, road repairs, and other public areas. This position requires keen awareness, quick decision-making, and commitment to public safety standards to manage the smooth flow of traffic around the citys various infrastructural projects. Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control signs, barriers, and equipment. Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction and maintenance zones. Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency responders to provide clear access through traffic. Monitor and report on traffic flow issues and safety hazards. Operate and place traffic lights and divert traffic during emergencies or peak hours. Ensure all traffic control equipment is in working order and deployed correctly according to safety standards. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with the public and team members. Physical fitness to stand and walk for extended periods, sometimes in adverse weather conditions. Attention to detail for observing traffic patterns and identifying hazards. Certified Traffic Control Safety professional by an accredited organization is preferred. Valid driver’s license.
