# Position Summary Information## Department DescriptionThe mission of the Office of Medical Education (OME) is to provide stellar service and support in the areas of medicine education to School of Medicine students, faculty, and staff and to meet LCME recertification standards through innovative approaches to teaching, evaluation, and curriculum design. The primary purpose of the Student Affairs Office is to create a supportive environment in which medical students can master the educational objectives of the curriculum while developing personally and professionally. We also maintain records of students? accomplishments toward fulfillment of their medical school requirements. This Executive Assistant position will have frequent interaction with faculty, administrators, staff, and students. This position will be responsible for maintaining a vast number of schedules, scheduling and confirming meetings/conferences and appointments, preparing and distributing information via telephone, mail and email. This position will prepare necessary materials, reports and special projects and distribute routine correspondence and reports without direct supervision; complete various forms in compliance with UNC policies and procedures; obtain signatures as required; and maintain electronic and paper filing system for records, correspondence, and other essential documents. The importance of this individual?s role is crucial to the academic and administrative needs of the Office of Medical Education. Because of the high level of access to sensitive student records and confidential correspondence, the person in this position must demonstrate the highest standards of discretion and ability to maintain trust.## Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.## Essential Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesDemonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work listed above. Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information and records. Candidates must be proficient in the Microsoft Office products, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Excellent customer service skills, telephone etiquette, and attention to detail is essential. Must have the ability to multi task, be very flexible, organized, the ability to change priorities and work in a dynamic office. Excellent oral and written communication skills, effective problem solving capabilities, strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.## Preferred QualificationsPrefer candidate with prior student services work experience. Experience in a higher education setting preferred.
