Job Description:

Senior Accountant - The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller. He/She maintains the general ledger accounts and business transactions applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP that includes analytical work and the thorough review of financial records.

Responsibilities: Assist Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department. Support month-end and year-end close process. Maintain and balance general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies. Perform the processing of functional expense allocations, monthly accruals, intercompany transactions and recording of adjusting/reclassification of journal entries. Prepare and analyze monthly budget to actual variances by Cost Center and Department. Assist in preparation of various financial reports; create ad-hoc reports as needed. Responsible for ensuring meetings and travel expenses are properly coded, accounted for and in line with budget. Review and reconcile AMEX travel expenses with itineraries from travel agency. Assist with maintenance of Intacct accounting system, stay current on system releases, identify new system functionality to streamline processes and create efficiencies. Assist Controller with annual financial statement audits. Prepare workpapers as assigned and provide related supporting documentation. Assist Controller with preparing ABP and ABPF IRS Form 990s. Provide redundancy to accounts payable function. Primary back up to Payment Services Manager for processing, recording and reviewing accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff/appointee expense reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with ABP policy and procedures. Provide redundancy to payroll function. Primary back up to Payment Services Manager for biweekly payroll process. Ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws. Process bi-weekly payroll periodically throughout year. Manage the revenue collection process which includes interfacing with credit card processor, reviewing daily credit card payment reconciliations completed by Accounting Specialist, and resolving discrepancies. Track outstanding receivables as needed. Prepare weekly and monthly revenue fee reports. Reconcile examination and enrollment revenue with internal candidate database on monthly basis. Calculate and record deferred revenues. Maintain fixed assets tracking system to ensure that all ABP assets are properly classified and depreciated. Work with department managers to ensure listed assets are still in use or have been disposed of properly. Investigate and resolve discrepancies. Prepare monthly fixed asset reports. Prepare annual property tax listing.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor s degree in Accounting Certified Public Accountant CPA preferred

Required Experience: Three to five years relevant accounting experience Non-profit experience preferred

Intacct Accounting Software experience desired

Host Analytics Software experience a plus

Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

6. Creative problem solving. Demonstrated history of critical thinking to solve and prevent problems.
